During the rise in popularity of the relatively inexpensive 'package tour' to hot-spots abroad, there was a proportionate decline in numbers holidaying in some of the UK's traditional seaside resorts. It is also a fact that a few years ago the waters around the UK coastline left something to be desired compared with our European neighbours.
